So it's been a while! Crazy summer. Crazy. I was thinking to myself about blogging, and I had to ask myself "Why even bother?" I mean really, there are so many blogs out there, why take the time and hassle to put together a blog post? I came up with a few good answers, and one of them is simply that I like to share things that I have found helpful. Technology is definitely a passion of mine, and as long as it makes my life *simpler* I'm a happy girl. Sooo here are 3 of my current favorite apps! As far as I know, these are available for both iPhone and Android users. (You know who you are, Android User)
Calorie King
Yes, Weight Watchers and I are back for another round of beating my eating habits into submission. I love the WW system, but their app and food database is a little aggravating (lame) sometimes. I found this app recently and it is so useful when I am eating out or hitting Sonic Happy Hour for the 6th time this week. (It last from 2-5pm here...so...it's a problem)
Calorie King has a much better database for restaurant food, so I just plug in the nutrition info in my WW app and I get much better results than just trying to guess.
I just found out that I CAN indulge in a medium diet Ocean Water from Sonic for only 1 WW point. I might have kissed my iPhone for that.
Did I mention that it's a free app?
Whole Foods Market Recipes
I love Whole Foods! I know it has kind of a reputation for being crazy expensive, but you would be so surprised at what you can buy there for a great price! I shop here for my specialized groceries (dairy-free cheeses, goat cheese, g-free items) but I also buy their store brand regular grocery items as well as bulk grains, nuts, and peanut butter. (Hoping to put together a Whole Foods shopping list soon!) It also doesn't hurt that they offer dairy-free coffee drinks and dairy-free gelato for me to consume whilst I shop. Anyways, this is a spectacular app for finding *clean* recipes if you are into clean eating and need some fresh ideas. It's also great for when you are hosting a dinner for someone who has food allergy issues. I did a couple screenshots of recipe searches I did recently. As you can see, you can search by meal and special diet.
All the recipes have these colored labels so you can see quickly if it's good for your special diet. Obviously, the recipes are made with items you can buy at WF, and I found that most of them were available in the 365 Whole Foods brand or in the bulk section. For the most part, these are items you can get anywhere! You can create a shopping list based on the recipe, something I find really helpful for planing my grocery shopping! Produce is a bit steep there, so I would personally buy mine at the local produce stand or regular grocery store. I've got my eye on a couple of recipes that I'm dying to try when payday comes around!

Postagram
As a photographer, I am so so guilty of not printing my photos! I have literally thousands of iPhone photos that need to be sorted and printed and I'm trying to find the best way to do that without going broke. Postagrams are a great way to A.) Share photos with family and friends and B.) Get or give an actual print straight from your smartphone. It's made for the Instagram square photos, but you can use photos straight from your album on your phone, Instagram, or even Facebook. Postagram makes this cute little postcard with the photo you choose and sends it wherever you want. The photo pops out of the card and your recipient has a fun little print! They are 99 cents each, and that includes the postage.
This is what the card looks like while you are customizing it. There is room for a short message and it will even use your own Instagram profile photo. Here is a screenshot of a card I sent to myself and to Elissa. They were having a promotion where you get 5 free cards, so I saw a great opportunity to get a few free prints!
These are the 3 Postagrams I sent to myself. I tore the prints out of the card before I thought to take a photo of them.
Sorry.
And yes, that is a ninja offering you a flower. It's my favorite tray.
Plus, who doesn't love to get mail? It's a fun surprise! I like this app.
And lastly...
Ok so I watch Phineas and Ferb. I admit it. I'm hooked on this game, and I've already beaten the free version.
You can find all these apps in the iPhone app store or Android marketplace.
Let me know, was this helpful?
